"As director of The Ark acoustic music club in Ann Arbor for forty years from 1968 to 2008, I presented literally thousands of performers, including many wonderful singer-songwriters whose music I now cherish. Of all of these, I find myself listening to the music of Lynn Miles more than that of any other performer who played the club. Her melodies are stunning and I think many of her lyrics are absolute poetry capable of standing alone. If you love good music and you致e never really listened to her, you owe it to yourself to do so soon. I can easily say Lynn Miles ranks as my favorite singer-songwriter to have ever played The Ark during my tenure over the last forty years. Flat out my favorite."
Dave Siglin
What some reviewers
have said about Lynn Miles ...
GAVIN
... if there is any justice left in
the music business, Miles will be a star. Lynn is a talent writer
and singer whose songs are filled with emotion and filled with
rootsy, pop-edged stories that are radio-ready. WASHINGTON POST
The evening's main revelation was
canadian singer-songwriter Lynn Miles. She sang half a dozen
songs, and every one boasted a glorious pop melody that rose
and fell over surprising chord changes ...
THE TORONTO SUN -
Paul Cantin
It has always been a puzzle that Lynn Miles hasn't managed
to translate critical raves and peer esteem into broader
good fortune. But a world that makes room for say, Lucinda
Williams, ought to be able to spare some well-deserved success
for Miles... USA TODAY
Unravel: Few singer/songwriters
can sound exquisitely diconsolate as Canadian Lynn Miles.
Miles sings of stark, desolate loneliness and the instruments
accompanying her echo in the expanse of the solitude.
THE
OTTAWA SUN - Ian Nathanson
Unravel: Nary a weak track in sight-to make this a heartachingly
brilliant listening experience.

Unravel: That Lynn Miles isn't already a household name in
this country is more a crime than a mystery. If there was
a better Canadian album this year, I didn't hear about it. USA TODAY

Night in a Strange Town: If Joni Mitchell had made this album
last year instead of trying to take her tiger she would

THE
TENNESSEAN - Tom Roland
This is one poetic effort. Lynn Miles has a way of looking
at the unevenness of love and life, and where many would
see the difficulty of the journey as a disappointment, she
seems to revel in the romantic battlefields and the gray
areas...Miles delivers it all with an every-woman experessiveness...Her
poetic, insightful portrait of the human spirit, upbeat despite
it's difficult honesty, is truly inviting. |
